What are the Cades Cove Hours of Operation?

If you are planning on visiting Cades Cove during your next vacation to the Smoky Mountains, you may what to know when the area is open. That is why we have created a list of all of the Cades Cove hours of operation for each of the fun and exciting attractions found here.

Cades Cove Loop Road

Cades Cove loop roadThe Cades Cove Loop Road is a scenic roadway that stretches 11-miles in total around the secluded area. Along this drive, you will find historic home sites, rolling mountain views and acres upon acres of open fields.

The Cades Cove Loop Road is open daily from Sunrise to Sunset.

2017 Loop Hours

The Cades Cove Loop Road is open daily from sunrise until sunset, weather permitting, with the following exceptions:

The road is closed to vehicle traffic every Wednesday and Saturday until 10 a.m. from May 10 to September 27, 2017. During this time, you are invited to walk or bike the roadway without worrying about cars slowing you down.

When you reach the halfway point of the loop road, you will find the Cades Cove Visitor Center. This is where you and your family or group and stop by and pick up a souvenir from your experience in this scenic area. Trinkets found here include books about the national park, t-shirts, key chains, and homemade jellies and jams you can take home.

The Cades Cove hours of operation for the Visitor Center vary by month and are as follows:

  • January- 9 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
  • February- 9 a.m.- 5:30 p.m.
  • March- 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m.
  • April- 9 a.m.- 7 p.m.
  • May- July- 9 a.m.- 7:30 p.m.
  • August- 9 a.m.- 7 p.m.
  • September- October- 9 a.m.- 6:30 p.m.
  • November- 9 a.m.- 5:30 p.m
  • December- 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Cades Cove Picnic Area

That is why you are probably curious to discover hours of operation for the Cades Cove picnic area. Here, you and your family or loved ones can enjoy a delicious meal while surrounded by the breathtaking natural beauty of the area.

Hours:

  • May 1- August 31: Sunrise to 8 p.m.
  • September 1- April 30: Sunrise to Sunset

If you want an even more intimate nature experience when you visit Cades Cove, you should consider planning a camping adventure there! This is when you and your family or friends reserve one of the many campsites found within the cove’s boundaries and sleep under the stars.

The Cades Cove campground is open year round. Daily check-ins begin at 1 p.m. and check out is at 12 p.m.

Cades Cove Riding Stables

horseback riding in Cades CoveLastly, if you want a unique way to explore Cades Cove, we suggest you experience the area from horseback with the help from our friends at the Cades Cove Riding Stables. Here, the friendly staff will be more than happy to take you on a relaxed guided tour of the area just like the early settlers once explored.

The trail rides take about an hour to complete. During the journey, you will explore mountain streams, shady forest and tons of majestic scenery.

If horseback riding isn’t exactly your cup of tea, you can always experience one of their guided hayrides or carriage rides during your visit.

The Cades Cove Riding Stables are open from 9 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., March 4 through November 30. The times for the guided hayrides and carriage rides vary by date:

March 4 through May 3110:00AM, 12:00PM, and 3:00PM
June 1 through August 1510:00AM, 12:00PM, 3:00PM, and 6:00PM
August 16 through season closing:10:00AM, 12:00PM, and 3:00PM
